04/Family Stories

“Some of the most meaningful photographs are made long before we understand just how much they'll mean to us.”

01 / The Art of Being Together.

Every family has its own rhythm. The way children find their way into someone’s arms, the familiar expressions, the laughter that comes from knowing one another so well.

I believe there’s room for both the beautifully composed portrait and the moments that happen when no one is thinking about the camera. One doesn’t have to come at the expense of the other.

Some of my favorite photographs are made somewhere in between. it stand out.

02 / The First Days.

There’s something about the beginning of a new chapter that makes even the smallest details feel extraordinary.

The nursery you’ve spent months preparing. The familiar arms that hold a baby for the first time. The older sibling finding their place in a family that’s suddenly grown.

And then, almost before you know it, everything begins to change.

I love returning to families throughout that first year, seeing the little personalities emerge and the beautiful life taking shape around them.

03 / A Place in the Story.

Some places become woven into our family histories.

A favorite stretch of beach. The house everyone returns to each summer. The familiar walk to the water, the sandy feet, the traditions that seem ordinary until we realize how much they mean.

For so many families, the Delaware beaches hold generations of these memories. I love being able to photograph a little piece of them.

04 / Everyone, Together.

As families grow, finding a moment when everyone is together becomes something special in itself.

Grandparents, grown children, cousins, and the newest little additions. There are the portraits everyone hopes to have, of course, but also the smaller moments between them.

A grandchild reaching for a familiar hand. Siblings laughing together again. The beautiful evidence of a family that has grown across generations.

05 / Before the Photographs.

A beautiful session begins long before we pick up the camera.

Choosing a place that means something to your family, finding the right light, thinking through what everyone will wear, and making room for the ages and personalities of the people joining us.

I’m here to help with those details, so when our time together arrives, there’s less to think about and more to enjoy.

06 / A Story of Your Own.

There isn’t one way a family story should look.

It might be a quiet morning at home, an evening along the coast, or a gathering of people who haven’t all been in the same place for far too long.

Whatever this chapter looks like for your family, I’d love to help you remember it.
